Mrs. Ruby Lee Hamilton

Jacksonville, Florida Ruby Lee Hamilton (Daughtry), beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. Ruby was born on May 23, 1937, in Portal, Georgia, to the late Homer Lee and Inez Burke Daughtry. She lived a life marked by strength, kindness, faith, and unwavering love for her family. Her warm smile, generous spirit, and caring heart touched the lives of all who knew her. Ruby was educated in the schools of Bullock County, Georgia. She later moved to Brooklyn, New York, where she was employed for many years at Woolworth Department Store. Ruby was known for her strong work ethic and determination. After relocating to South Carolina, she became the owner and operator of her own landscaping business. An avid landscaper, she devoted countless hours to cultivating and maintaining beautiful outdoor spaces, a passion that brought her great joy and fulfillment. Throughout her life, Ruby was known for her dedication to her faith, her commitment to her family, and her willingness to help others. She found joy in spending time with loved ones, serving those in need, and extending kindness and charity to others. Her generous spirit and encouraging presence created cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Ruby spent many faithful years as a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Charleston, South Carolina. She was a devoted and faithful choir director who found great joy in worship, fellowship, and serving alongside her church family. Ruby was united in marriage to William Hamilton in Brooklyn, New York. Through life’s joys and challenges, they built a legacy of love that continues through their children, grandchildren, and future generations. Ruby leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Ronnie Hamilton, Clint Hamilton, and Eveylene Herring Hamilton; grandchildren, Ka’Deem Marion and Katelyn Michelle Hamilton; two great-grandchildren, Ka’Deem Marion, Jr. (KJ) and Ka’Maya Howard; sister, Arlene Daughtry Hendrix; sister-in-law, Maggie Daughtry; aunt, Doris Lewis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer Lee and Inez Burke Daughtry; beloved husband, William Hamilton; and siblings, Louise Conyers, Geraldine Simmons, Roy Daughtry, Leo Daughtry, Leteria Daughtry, and Homer Jamal Daughtry. A viewing will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. at the funeral home. The funeral service for Mrs. Ruby Lee Hamilton will be held at 2 P.M., Saturday, June 6, 2026 at the Johnson Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Portal Georgia with the Rev. S. Maurice Hill, Pastor/Officiating. the burial will follow in the church cemetery. Final rites have been entrusted to Hill's Mortuary, Inc.
